A wind storm knocked down a tree that tore the electrical service off my home. Craig came to my house at 10 PM to perform an immediate assessment and temporary repair. About C.M. Armitage
Founded by an electrical-trades teacher. Still doing it that way.
Craig Armitage was teaching commercial and industrial electrical trades at BOCES II when he started C.M. Armitage in 2000. Twenty-five years later, the company is still training the next generation of electricians.
Craig founded C.M. Armitage Electrical Contracting in 2000 in Rochester, NY. Before that, he taught the commercial and industrial electrical trades program at BOCES II - where he saw firsthand that the quality of electrical work in the region depended on the quality of the people learning the trade.
That conviction still runs the company. C.M. Armitage is a registered NYS Department of Labor Apprenticeship Program sponsor, partnered with Monroe Community College for classroom instruction. Apprentices receive on-the-job training plus the academic coursework needed to meet NYS requirements, and earn a nationally recognized Journeyworker certificate when they complete the program.
Many of our foremen are former apprentices. Many of the technicians named in customer reviews - Tom, John, Spencer, Derrick, Adam - grew up here. It's why customers come back, project after project, across commercial, industrial, residential, and low-voltage work.

How are your electricians trained?
C.M. Armitage is a registered NYS Department of Labor Apprenticeship Program sponsor. Our apprentices receive on-the-job training alongside classroom instruction through Monroe Community College to meet NYS Department of Labor requirements. After completion, apprentices earn a nationally recognized Journeyworker certificate. Many of our foremen are former apprentices.
Do you handle both residential service calls and large commercial projects?
Yes. Our work spans residential service calls, panel upgrades, EV charging, security and 24-hour monitoring all the way through ground-up commercial construction, industrial design-build, motor controls, sub-metering, and fire-alarm systems. The same crew works across project sizes.
Do you respond to electrical emergencies?
We have a long track record of being there for customers in urgent situations. Standard business hours are Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 4 PM. Call 585-266-0346 and we will work with you to assess the situation.
Are you up to date with current NEC and NY State electrical code?
